Dean Cindy Berg

50 years of Inspiring Human Solutions to Life’s Challenges!

Since 1970 The College of Social and Behavioral science has grown to over 3,717 undergraduate and 438 graduate students. Throughout the last fifty years, faculty members, students, and scholars have contributed knowledge on some of the most critical challenges of our time.

Teams across Psychology and Family and Consumer Studies have revealed that psychological distress can be linked to cancer testing. Scholars from Geography, Anthropology, and Sociology have revealed key findings related to climate change that inform our understanding of warning systems for fires, hurricanes, and weather events. Investigators from Sociology have revealed ways that the health and well-being of individuals are differentially affected by economic condition and race. And researchers in Economics and Political Science have sought to understand and address economic inequality in Utah, the U.S., and across the world.

Undergraduate and graduate programs have been developed to appreciate the interdisciplinary  knowledge required to understand these grand challenges. Our alumni have inspired solutions in local communities through elected public office, innovative businesses, non-profit organizations, medical settings, mental health practices, and in their homes and families.

We look forward to sharing with you some of our research milestones, faculty, student, and staff experiences, and our ongoing efforts to #bethesolution.

Warmly,

Cindy Berg
